What’s been happening
Dear Families, Supporters and Friends of CMV Action,
Welcome to our Spring update. Since my last letter, a number of important developments have taken place.
One of the recent highlights for our team was attending the RCM Education and Research Conference. We had a great time connecting with professionals working with cCMV and made some valuable connections for the future.
The national screening consultation has now been completed, and CMV Action submitted a detailed response to the committee. We are currently awaiting the outcome. Whatever the decision, our commitment remains unchanged: we will continue to advocate for improved awareness, earlier detection, and better outcomes for families affected by CMV.
We have also shared new research exploring the psychological impacts of CMV on families. This important work highlights the ongoing emotional and mental health effects experienced by many parents and carers, reinforcing the need for long-term, holistic support. You can read the research here.
Through our CMV Connect project, we are continuing to develop and expand our support services for families. This work is enabling us to grow our peer support offer and strengthen the ways in which families can connect with one another, and we will continue to expand these services as far as our funding allows.
It has also been inspiring to see such strong community support in action. Over the past weekend, two incredible fundraisers took on the London Marathon in support of CMV Action, raising vital awareness and funds for our work. I am also looking forward to taking on the Birmingham Great Run later this month, running in support of the families we work alongside.
I am proud of the progress our small charity continues to make, driven by the dedication of our community, volunteers, supporters and trustees.
Looking ahead, CMV Awareness Month in June will be another key moment for us to come together, raise awareness, and continue pushing CMV higher up the public and professional agenda.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, which makes everything we do possible and helps drive us forward in our mission to support families affected by CMV.
