2025, a year of significant change for CMV Action
Dear families, supporters, and friends of CMV Action,
As we’re about to step into 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year behind us, and to share our hopes for the year ahead.
2025 was a year of significant change for CMV Action. We welcomed new Trustees to our board and two operational team members. We also looked closely at how we work, listened deeply to the families who rely on us, and began reshaping our services so that every parent, every carer, and every child affected by CMV feels supported, informed, and truly heard.
But change is only the beginning. 2026 will be a year of transformation for our small charity.
CMV Connect
One of the most exciting developments of 2025 was the introduction of CMV Connect, our National Lottery funded project that has already begun changing the way we support families.
Through CMV Connect, we are:
- Working hand-in-hand with families, ensuring lived experience guides our decisions and priorities.
- Creating safe community spaces where parents can share their stories and feel less alone.
- Developing support that is more tailored and more responsive to the needs of every family.
This programme represents a major step forward and forms the heart of our transformation in 2026.
Growing Our Team
To meet the growing need for support, we hope to expand our team and volunteer network this year. By investing in our people, we’re ensuring that families receive compassionate, expert guidance at every stage of their CMV journey.
This growth will help us build an organisation that is resilient, forward-thinking, and able to meet increasing demand for support and information.
Raising Awareness amongst Professionals
Increasing health professional’s understanding of CMV remains one of our highest priorities. In 2026, our focus will be on midwives and maternity professionals, who play a critical role in prevention, early awareness, and family support.
We are committed to:
- Delivering clearer and more accessible professional resources
- Expanding training and partnership opportunities
- Challenging the persistent gaps in knowledge and misinformation
Our goal is simple: to ensure no family is left in the dark about CMV.
How You Can Help in 2026
As we begin this new chapter, we need your help to make our vision a reality.
This year, we are asking our supporters to join us in one of three ways:
Share your lived experience by joining our online discussion groups/panels, completing surveys or joining our CMV Connect peer to peer groups (WhatsApp and Facebook)
Support our awareness work by sharing our resources with midwives, health visitors, and local maternity teams
Donate or fundraise, helping us expand support, training, and advocacy at a time when demand is growing more quickly than ever
Volunteer, Whatever time you can commit, we have opportunities available. Become a CMV Connect support volunteer, help us with events, or by getting involved in advocacy and campaigning.
Every action, big or small, will strengthen our ability to support families and create lasting change.
Looking ahead
2025 brought meaningful change, but 2026 will bring transformation and we will achieve it through working together.
Thank you for your continued trust, your courage in sharing your stories, and your belief in our mission. Our work at CMV Action is driven by you, shaped by you, and done for and with you.
With warmest wishes for the year ahead,
