CMV Action receives no Government funding and is entirely reliant on the kind and wonderful donations from our supporters.  We are extremely grateful for all donations made to our charity; every penny counts in enabling us to support families affected by congenital CMV and to raise awareness amongst health professionals and the public to prevent fewer children being affected in the future.

Whether you are collecting money from an event or making a one off donation, don’t forget to email us fundraising@cmvaction.org.uk and tell us about your event or donation so we can thank you properly.

Leaving a Legacy

Legacies make the world of difference to charities.

We appreciate that family and loved ones always come first when it comes to considering your will. After ensuring that this is the case, we hope that you will consider leaving a gift to CMV Action.

Every legacy left to CMV Action will help us continue our vital work. As we do not receive any government funding we rely on the generosity of people who share our mission. Your legacy gift would make a huge difference to our on-going work.

Where the money goes

We understand that you may well want to know a bit more about how any money you leave might be spent. For more information about our mission, visit here.

Tax exemption

Legacies to charities are currently exempt from Inheritance Tax and, with 80p in every £1 donated going directly to our vital work, you can be sure that your donation will be used wisely.

There are three different types of legacy you may want to leave.

  1. Residuary legacy – A percentage of the value of your estate once all other payments have been made. This is a particularly effective way to remember a charity because it is expressed as a percentage and retains its value over time.
  2. Pecuniary legacy – This is a gift of a fixed amount of money. If you have family or other people who you want to receive the bulk of your estate, you may prefer to leave us a pecuniary legacy. However, you should be aware that the effects of inflation will mean that the real value of the legacy could become less than you intended, unless you review your Will regularly.
  3. Specific legacy – A gift of specific items – personal possessions or specified investments such as shares or the contents of a bank account.

Whatever you decide to do, we would be really grateful and will use the money wisely to support families, fund research and raise awareness of this devastating virus.

Many thanks for thinking of us.

In Memory

Every donation in memory is a lasting tribute to your loved one.

A gift in memory of a loved little star or a loved relative is a wonderful tribute to their life and a touching way to help us to make a real difference to the lives of babies and families affected by CMV.
