Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection: Update on Treatment Nov 2017

Well done CMV Action! It is great to hear that this paper has now been published.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) have recently issued a Scientific Impact Paper (No.56) “Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection: Update on Treatment” .

This summarises the issues around screening, diagnosis and treatment of CMV in pregnancy, utilising the best available evidence and highlighting recent advances.

CMV Action hugely welcome the publication of this paper which will do much to ensure that doctors and midwives are confident in their knowledge of CMV prevention, transmission and management.  CMV Action are especially proud that we helped to influence the implementation and content of these guidelines as a result of liaison with the RCOG following the publication of our report “We Need To Talk About CMV”.

There is, of course, still much more work to be done to reach our vision of fewer babies born with CMV - and better support in place for those affected.

We urgently need donations to help with the costs of publicising the new paper to health professionals around the UK.

If you would like to help, please Text CMVA14 £5 to 70070 to donate now. Or if you’d like to donate a different amount, change the amount in the text to £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10. Many thanks.
