This is a personal message from Charlotte:
Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
On 30 August 2014 I am taking part in the mile long Great London Swim for the charity CMV Action. This charity is important to me as I have a 3 month old baby girl named Lilly who has CMV.
I was diagnosed with CMV when I was 20 weeks pregnant and I think it was one of the hardest experiences of my life, it meant my baby could be born severly disabled. This lead to scans every 4-6 weeks for the duration of my pregnancy to ensure she was okay, as there was a great chance of CMV being passed onto her whilst she was in the womb.
When Lilly was born she was diagnosed with congenital cmv although luckily she is asymptomatic, we have numberous hospital appointments to attend over the next year so consultants can keep check of her progress and ensure she does not develop hearing or sight problems, as these are the most common affects of cmv and usually develop after birth.
The consultants are very happy with Lillys progress and I feel so lucky to have such a strong little girl, however I know others have not been so lucky and without CMV Action me and many other parents would feel very alone and uninformed right from the stage of diagnosis.
Thank you so much for reading and for any donations x x
