My daughter was born with CMV which caused bilateral profound, sensorineural hearing loss.
Life with a new baby is challenging enough but to then find out my baby had been infected with CMV and that the effects it has had, and may continue to have was even more difficult. It was a complete shock finding out my daughter was deaf and to learn it was from something I knew nothing about was devastating. Particularly as I felt I was so careful throughout my pregnancy. I always felt at ease throughout my pregnancy and during all my antenatal visits I had lots of reassurance.
When my daughter was born I felt I had a lot to learn as a new parent but I also wanted to learn more about CMV. Even now almost a year on I am educating people about CMV, some of whom are health professionals and/or who work with mums and young children.
I am hoping the money I make from this event will help eradicate, educate and vaccinate anybody affected by CMV.
Just £5 will help CMV Action support a family. £10 will mean one more awareness pack sent out.
Please help me in raising awareness and donating to help anybody else effected by CMV.
