Emma's mountain challenge is now on.

Emma has now left on her personal challenge – perfect timing for June Awareness Month!  Thanks Emma for all your hard work raising over £6,500

A personal message from Emma:

On 19th June 2014 I will be departing the UK to climb the 5895 metres to Uhuru Peak, Mount Kilimanjaro.  My reason for doing this big climb is to raise awareness of and much needed funds for an extremely worthy cause.

I have chosen to raise funds for CMV Action, a UK based organisation made up of parents and volunteers, most of whom have been affected by Congenital CMV.  Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common birth disorder which affects around in 1 in 150 newborn babies. Very few pregnant women are aware of the risk it poses and it can be a leading cause of permanent disabilities.  CMV Action UK works hard to raise awareness of the virus and campaign for better prevention measures within the health service.

Don't be fooled, it's more of a trek than a climb but I will be over the moon to get to the top.  To get there however I really need your support so please dig as deep as you can.  Through Virgin Money Giving you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to CMV Action.  Virgin Money Giving is a not-for-profit organisation and will claim gift aid where applicable on behalf of the charity.

I really appreciate your support - thank you for supporting CMV Action and helping me to achieve my goal.
