Well done Sarah, you did it!

A new year and a new challenge!

Apparently, when you have completed a marathon you want to run another one. So here we are, at the beginning of 2018, training for the Manchester marathon. 26.2 miles of joy and pain.

This year I have decided to raise money for CMV Action. As some of you may know, one of my best friends, Christine, contracted CMV when pregnant with her daughter Ellie. Ellie contracted CMV, causing her to have hearing loss and other difficulties.

I knew nothing about CMV before Ellie was born and I think it’s fair to say that this virus has caused many challenges for Christine, Ellie and the family.

I’d really like to raise awareness of the virus and do what I can to help families like Christine’s. Which is why I’m taking on this challenge.

Ellie is a very special little girl, she is a super talented footballer and loves Southampton FC. She’s great at Minecraft too. She also has many challenges to overcome on a daily basis, which she does. So I know she will inspire me when the going gets tough.

I’ve known Christine for 34 years, I always knew she’d be a brilliant mum, but the last few years have shown me just how incredible she is. I know she will be with me every step of the way on this journey.
